From the FIR to the verdict
This page follows cases from the police station to the court, for India as a whole. NCRB publishes these steps for each crime only for the country. For states it publishes them for all crimes against women together, and each state's page shows those figures.
Where the cases went
The width of each band is the number of cases. Cases waiting in court from earlier years are NCRB's own count of cases pending trial at the start of the year. A case reaches trial years after it was filed, so this year's verdicts are mostly for cases filed in earlier years.
